Aside from having experience as a full time high school English teacher, I have several years of tutoring experience with a wide variety of students at virtually every level of education. I was a writing tutor for college-level students at The University of Illinois at Chicago, a teacher's aide with struggling grade school students at Eisenhower Elementary, and a tutor for struggling middle and high school students at Chicago's Mercy Home for Boys. I have worked to prepare English students for the ACT as well as advanced placement exams, and can also provide students with guidance on writing grammar and proofreading techniques. Lastly, as my focus in school was English Literature, I am able to help students develop their reading skills on fundamental and critical levels. I hope to use these skills to advance my students' knowledge and grasp of the power of the written word.

I have taught critical reading skills and the comprehension and appreciation of literature at the high school level for the last two years. I have a good deal of experience working with students who are less than excited about reading (or even school in general) from my years as a reading and writing tutor at the college, high school, and grammar school levels.
