I'm currently tutoring several students ranging from elementary school to high school and adult immigrants who want to improve their English skills. I'm also a volunteer leader at an art program in Chicago for elementary students. Most of my experience is in education and working with kids. I have taught English as a foreign language to elementary students in South Korea for 2 years and I have tutored for over 6 years.
Most of the students I tutor want to improve in math, English (reading and writing), or ACT. The methods I use adapt according to each student's needs, but generally we use workbooks as the main source of learning, which are supplemented with worksheets and materials that I provide according to the lesson. I prefer to discuss the student's goals during the first session and then prepare the materials necessary for the following session, but I understand some students already have with them the materials that they need and just want some assistance and guidance with what they're already working on.
My plan is to go to grad school for psychological counseling to be a school counselor. I really enjoy helping people and I like working with kids. I believe that all students should have the proper education and attention to have academic success and psychological well-being.
