I was born to be a teacher. I spent my years in undergraduate school as a double major in Performance and Music Education, but left prior to finishing my Music Education degree. I joined the Navy and was a Vocalist/Entertainer for six years. I traveled the world performing, and taught fellow sailors voice lessons. I spent time transcribing music as well during this time. Upon leaving the Navy, I went back to school for my Master in Music Education. I had courses in advanced music theory, as well as composition and arranging. I graduated with a GPA of 3.98, as well as teaching certification in the state of Illinois. During all of my years, I have frequently been the person that others turn to with any questions about music theory or composition. I love coming up with new ways to explain concepts so that others can understand them. I believe that a teacher needs to be able to explain things in multiple ways, as to reach every student. Some people call that differentiation, but I call it just good teaching.
I am currently the general music teacher and choir director at Jack Benny Middle School in Waukegan, IL. I teach a lot of music theory basics in these classes, and am working to advance the program that I have. I think that my tutoring can help all of my students, not just the ones I'm working with at the moment.
