The field of biology is an amazing interconnected fabric of life! Every living thing is connected in some way to every other living thing creating a dynamic rare planet of amazing beauty and wonder. The fundamental level of functioning of biology is chemistry, so it is imperative to understand a little bit of chemistry to truly appreciate biology.
Once a person gains a level of appreciation for these ideas and becomes empowered to master them, the curiosity and amazement can take over and drive the person's learning.
We are all biological entities, so it behooves us to learn something about how our own bodies work in the context of a living planet. This knowledge can help us improve our lives and keep us healthy at the very least, and can help us be better stewards of our precious rare planet if we are open to the broader picture.
My credentials: I am a published scientist in the fields of microscopy technique and neuroscience. I hold a Master of Science degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana, and have had extensive coursework in science and in education well beyond my Masters. A certified teacher, I have had over 20 years of teaching experience of both Biology and Anatomy & Physiology at the High School and College levels.
