During my four years as a Digital Department Manager at a photography studio I had the opportunity to learn the front end of photography from a national photography workshop. I attended two workshops as a student before becoming a mentor on my third event. Since then I have traveled and educated small groups and individuals at over 25 events. Outside the events I do one-on-one personal mentoring in photography, Adobe Photoshop (retouching/restoration), and Adobe Lightroom (file organization and workflow).
If the above areas are of interest to you, I am able to guide you to where you want to be in photography. I have successfully brought many to new levels of creativity and knowledge through simple explanations of complex ideas and a productive attitude. You can learn anything and everything you ever wanted to know about photography, you only need to desire to do so! Do you have that? Good! Let's get started!
I have been working in Adobe Photoshop since 1997. My professional work started in 2003 as a digital image retoucher for a stock agency. In 2004 I became the Digital Department Manager of a well established photography studio. There I processed 600 images each week. In 2007 I started mentoring at photography workshops around the United States and still do today. At each event I instruct a 2-4 hour course on digital retouching and manipulation techniques.
Here are some of the parts of Adobe Photoshop that I instruct in:
-Tools (their purpose, options, and uses)
-Image Size (resizing images properly, understanding DPI and Resolution, Cropping)
-Layers Palette (options, uses, and organizing)
-History (using history and snapshots)
-Using Channels (saving selections, creating clean black and white images from channels)
-Actions (writing and using basic actions)
-Printing (understanding and using the print dialog)
-Using bitmap and vectored objects (knowing the difference, rasterizing)
...and much more!
"General Computer" is an incredibly broad topic. There are two basic avenues that you may be looking for. One would be the computers hardware and the other is its software. Both I can provide a wealth of information and understanding in.
If you are interested in building a computer and understanding its internal components, how they work together, and what options you have, I would be an excellent candidate to walk you through this process. If things like Hard Disc Drives, RAM, Motherboards, SATA and PCI-Slots deter you from learning and building your own computer then this is for you! Let's build a computer together! You will be pleasantly surprised what powerful machines you can build on your own for a much lower cost than purchasing them at a local store!
If you are looking to learn how your Windows computer works (Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7), how to maneuver inside of it, what options you have in setting yours up and maintaining it, then this route is for you! Unsure about File Indexing, De-fragmenting your Hard Drive, Scanning for Viruses, User Accounts, Permissions, Keeping Private Files, Backing Up Important Files...let's get clear on our options and what we can do to allow you to control and keep that computer running smoothly!
Since 2006 I have mentored hundreds in photography around the United States through photography workshops. I travel to about 5 workshops each year. Here is a list of photography subjects that I can explain and provide on-hand experience in learning.
