I went to college in South Texas with the plan of becoming a school teacher. While I was in college, I worked at my old high school as a substitue teacher. I also tutored other college students in English and Math.
I took a semester off to fill in for a friend of mine who taught English and Reading at a private school. She needed a second semester sabbatical, and the principal of the school was more than happy to let me take over. I taught sixth, seventh, and eighth grades.
Before I could finish my degree, I was drawn to another calling. I served five years in the Military, where I learned self-discipline better than any university could have taught me.
My love of teaching children and helping others has never left me. I am at my best in the subjects of English (grammar and reading) and mathematics. I try to get to know the student and his/her method of learning, and I personalize the way I teach to make it easier on individual students.
