Hello,
My name is Michele and I have 16 years' teaching experience in elementary education. I have taught students in 3rd, 4th, & 5th grades. I am also a reading specialist with a masters in reading/literacy. For 5 years I taught students reading in grades 1st through 6th. My teaching certificates are in both early childhood and elementary education. During the last 3 years I have tutored students in reading within the school district I currently teach at. Last year I tutored students at Huntington Learning Center in Chicago. I have great success improving reading levels for students I have tutored. I provide students with the skills to enjoy reading and become lifelong readers. Lessons are made to be interesting along with making learning fun. Students will learn to become better readers using skills I teach them such as visualizing and making connections when reading.Skills for decoding unfamiliar words are taughts in my lessons. Students find reading more enjoyable when they are provided with books that interest them. This is why I give all of my students a reading survey to find out what students like to read about. I also inform students what our objectives are for each lesson and provide lesson plans during every lesson. This gives students a goal for what they are going to achieve. I would like the opportunity to show your child how to become a great reader and lifelong learner.
