Hello!
My name is Sidney and I love to see the lightbulb of comprehension turn on in a child's eyes. I graduated in 1994 from Northwestern University with a degree in Biological Anthopology and completed the first three years of Northwestern's Honors Program in Medical Education. I left the medical track after 1 semester of medical school, realizing that it was not the career that I wanted. I worked in various fields including management, administration, statistical data compilation and analysis, and medical coding before quitting to become a full-time mother to my two sons. In that time, I have had the pleasure of raising two catholic school honor-roll students. During the last few years, as my sons have grown, I've been enrolled at the University of Phoenix online campus part-time pursuing a Master's Degree in Secondary Education. I have a 4.0 average and my dream is to become a high school biology or anatomy teacher, as these have always been my favorite subjects.
I love teaching and would be happy to help your student identify his or her strengths and weaknesses in order to better pursue a successful education. I believe in a holistic method of teaching in which I evaluate students' overall academic capabilities and then determine how best to improve their method of assimilating knowledge. Each student is unique and cannot be expected to wholly fit an arbitrary standard. I help students embrace the qualities that make them unique and learn to use them as productively as possible.
