Hi! I am Mallory, a fun, caring, and responsible elementary school teacher. I have always enjoyed working with children and helping them improve their grades in school. I am currently a fifth grade teacher. I spend time during lunch and after school working with some students who choose to spend a little extra time working on something that they are struggling with. I love being able to help a student succeed. I always look for different ways to re-teach lessons and make learning fun. I love to incorporate technology, games, and authentic resources into my teaching in order to make the learning relevant and interesting to the student.

I am looking to tutor students in elementary school or junior high school during the summer. I have experience with tutoring students age 5-16 in reading and math. I have experience using the Illinois Learning Standards and new Common Core Standards. I am willing to help with any subject. I am familiar with the Houghton Mifflin curriculum, Words their Way philosophy, Everyday Mathematics curriculum, Hands on Science curriculum, and Daily 5 Initiatives. Since I work in the area, I can help connect your child's learning to their school standards.

I have been a fifth grade teacher for one year. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree. I graduated Magna Cum Laude and as a Departmental Honors Scholar with Distinction.

I believe that reading is one of the most important subjects throughout a student's school career. Reading opens up the door to many paths. Elementary Math

I am an elementary school teacher. My favorite subject as a student in school was Math. I enjoy teaching it in many different ways (utilizing pictures, arrays, formulas, etc.) so that students can conceptualize the way that math works. Math can be connected to "real life" in many different ways and I love when students can apply their learning to new situations while problem solving. I utilize the Everyday Mathematics curriculum and am familiar with traditional math, as well.

Elementary Science

I enjoy working with students in hands-on exploration to discover the world of science. I teach science using many different experiments and experiences so that students can visualize and experience this subject in their own way. In science, I cover hypothesizing, critical thinking, problem solving, lab write ups, variables, and coming to a conclusion.

Elementary (K-6th)

I hold an Initial Teaching Certificate from the state of Illinois for grades K-9. I have one year of teaching experience as a fifth grade teacher.

Study Skills

I am a fifth grade teacher. I consistently teach study skills in preparation for my students' transition to junior high school. I review topic, main idea, and details. I review how to go over notes, activities, and resources before a test. I also review how to take appropriate notes while reading or listening to a lecture/ discussion.
