I would like to introduce myself. I am committed to the success of student learning, and I have knowledgeable expertise in the field of mentoring/tutoring high school students, as well as elementary children. I do believe that first and foremost there must be dedication to the cause of the excellency of students in order that they might be productive citizens in our ever-changing, and diverse society.
I have raised 4 children, and they are productive citizens. I was once a director at one of the local high school in the surrounding area. I was able to tutor girls that needed assistance as they pursued their education. I studied at Loyola University Chicago, and received my Bachelor's degree, and now I am to complete my Master's degree in Elementary, specializing in Reading/Literacy, at Walden University. I will eventually pursue my doctoral in elementary leadership education as well.
It is my endeavor to enable students to go beyond the classroom boundaries and to build on what they already know and take into adulthood. I have worked with children that has had issues in the forms of behavior and social interaction, and was able to link up with resources within the community of which they lived.
Of the many journeys that students take, perhaps there is none as important as being able to become competent readers and writers, because without it, they are limited in life, which can be frustrating, and will cause them to become depressed and oppressed as well, sometimes, give up on life, and that is where I will come in to bring hope.
I will complete my Masters degree the month of April, 2012, in which I specialize in Reading/Literacy. I have background experience of working with PreK-12th grade, as a substitute teacher.
I am able to understand the nature and the development of language. The development of literacy plays a critical role in the language process. It is critical that I understand the strategies for promoting students' reading comprehension skills, and I understand the methods for promoting students' study skills as well.
