In 2011, I received my teaching degree from DePaul University. I majored in Elementary Education and my concentration was in Mathematics.
I recently taught a 1st grade English class in Thailand. With no background in Thai, it was a difficult but very fun experience as I gained firsthand experience with teaching English as a Second Language to students who only spoke Thai. I taught Science, Math, Health, and English Comprehension and Skills all in English to them.
Before that, I was a maternity substitute in both a 1st grade and 2nd grade classroom, teaching all subjects and communicating with parents to give the students the best education they could have. For several summers, I have also taught literature 3rd to 5th graders by doing fun reading and writing activities.
I have tutored a college-level student in mathematics, along with 3 middle schoolers, 6th-8th grades, in their homes. I am glad to have also had the opportunity to work with a kindergartener in reading and a 3rd grader with his school projects.
I also student taught in a second grade classroom; I worked with a class of second graders as a student teacher in a District 65 (Evanston) school under an excellent mentor. For over ten weeks, I planned lessons in every academic subject (math, science, reading, writing, and social studies) and oftentimes taught them to two different second grade classrooms.
Before that experience, and as part of DePaul's program, I had the opportunity to observe many other teachers and teach lessons in their classes. In an 8th grade classroom in Prescott Elementary, I taught science lessons. In Lincoln Hall Middle School, I taught pre-algebra and basic algebra to 6th graders. I was also able to teach a social studies lesson on Navy Pier to a 3rd grade class in Boone Elementary.

I am interested in helping children of all ages succeed with schoolwork or just to help them build upon what they know to have a stronger foundation for their future academic careers. As an aspiring teacher, I encourage everyone to use the help of any services to grow and feel confident with some guidance from a mentor. I would be more than willing to help you be the greatest person you can be with a tutoring style that fits each person's personal needs. Because every single person is different, I will see the best and most appropriate method for each individual.
I believe all students can learn as long as they have great teachers and put forth effort into everything they do. With time and patience, they will know that hard work can help you overcome many of life's obstacles.
Again, thank you for taking your time to review this! Please feel free to contact me because I would love to help you!
