I am a high school English teacher with ample experience tutoring in English reading and writing, and I would love to help you improve your English skills! As a high school English teacher, I have first-hand experience with the expectations of high school English teachers; I know what the parameters of an analytical essay, and I can help you study for difficult reading quizzes, final exams, and unit tests. I also work one-on-one with my students to address their particular needs as a writer and reader. I can identify your weaknesses and help you improve as an English student.
I tutor privately throughout the school year, helping students with reading comprehension, daily homework assignments, and proofreading and editing essays. I also help juniors and seniors with writing and editing college essays, one of my favorite genres to help students with. I am known among my students as the most difficult of graders when it comes to essays, but I am also known for my extensive comments and meetings with my students about how to improve their papers. I have lots of experience working with teenagers; I am young, energetic, and positive.
My writing skills are also excellent, so you know you are in good hands--I was nominated for three writing prizes at Middlebury as an undergraduate. I was a nominee for Middlebury’s Ward Prize in 2006, received the Kellogg Classical Prize in 2007, and also won Honorable Mention for the Women’s and Gender Studies’ Alison Fraker Prize in 2009. I was also a peer writing tutor at Middlebury’s learning center, a job which allowed me to help other students become better writers via one-on-one meetings.
