I am a person that wears many hats-I am a full time secondary art teacher, freelance graphic designer, and professional artist (just to name a few!). I love to teach, and enjoy working with students one on one to propel their drawing skills forward. The arts are so incredibly important in our society, and unfortunately many schools have reduced or removed arts programs available to students. If that is the case for you, why not have an artist teach you individually? I specialize in drawing and painting and would be happy to show you my work. I have also taught elementary level students through Young Rembrandts, so I am very familiar with the younger students as well.
I also have extensive experience as a graphic designer as well as a film editor. I worked in the industry for many years before deciding to become a teacher. I am proficient in all design and editing software. I can provide a realistic, thorough tutoring session to enhance your graphic design skills.
As a teacher, the ability to work individually with a student is the most ideal learning situation, and tutoring is a wonderful outlet for this experience. Especially in the arts, it is so helpful to have someone show you what to do. I am a very hands-on teacher...I will draw for you and show you how to fix stuff. I can also provide handouts/information for you to help you study and practice on your own. We can set up an individual plan for success (everyone learns differently).
The most important thing I can share with you is that drawing is a SKILL, not a TALENT. It can be learned and taught, just like anything else. There is a common misconception that artists have magical skills :). Art has rules and principles to help you create the end result you are looking for, and I can teach you what to do. I look forward to working with you!
