Dear Prospective Students,
My name is Margie, and I am a certified teacher in Illinois who currently teaches science and social studies at the high school level.
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in French from Bradley University, one of the best private universities in the nation. Also from Bradley, I earned a Masters in Business Administration.
I have a Masters of Arts in French from Illinois State University. In Sept. 2010, I took the ICTS content tests for Spanish and French and passed both. This is a requirement for high school teachers of these languages.
Here's feedback from the mother of one of my Wyzant students from May 2011:
"Due to Margery's helpful feedback and review techniques, my daughter went from "C" to ending the quarter with an "A". She will be able to enroll in French 3 this fall and will continue to tutor with Margery over the summer and into the next school year! Margery has made all the difference in the world for my daughter enjoying French again! Thank you so very much!"
I studied elementary education at Governors State University to obtain my teaching certificate.
I worked as a writer for a corporation for a couple years and wrote freelance as well. I also worked as an account executive for a Chicago advertising agency.
In addition, I taught English as a Second Language at Joliet Junior College for several years to adults from all around the globe, and also taught French there and at Illinois Central College.
I have taught all ages and nearly all subjects. Currently, I teach social studies and science for upper high school students. I incorporate math and writing elements when teaching because of their universal importance. I have experience with common tests, such as the GED, ACT, and ASVAB.
I am knowledgeable about the key elements to master in order to improve reading fluency and comprehension.
As for my teaching style, I am very enthusiastic about teaching and learning, and I believe my positive, can-do attitude makes learning interesting and fun for students. I follow proven teaching strategies.
My strongest areas are: reading and writing, grammar, literature, social studies, science, and French. Math is one of my favorite subjects, and I am certified to teach math through 9th grade.
I work well with students of all ages and backgrounds, and I am able to adapt to their learning style and create challenging but achievable lessons.
On a personal note, I have a daughter and son in high school. Both are in honors classes. I love to read, garden, paint, and play tennis.
I am confident that we will achieve great things together!
Thank you!
