A Reading Instruction Specialist using a comprehensive, sequential phonics-based program with proven success. This reading program provides struggling readers with the skills they need to become successful readers. Most students see significant gains after only 20 hours of instruction. I am also an Orton-Gillingham certified tutor. I have a Bachelor's of Arts degree from Michigan State University. I also have met the tutoring requirements for the Secretary of State Literacy Office and ProLiteracy Worldwide. I have worked with elementary-aged students through adults, including students with dyslexia and ADHD. Through tutoring, I desire to provide an opportunity for all students, no matter their abilities, to learn to read and to know the joy and opportunity reading can bring to their lives.

Reading

I am a certified Reading Instruction Specialist using a sequential, comprehensive reading program that helps students gain success in reading. Students see significant gains in their reading skills using this program. I am also a certified Orton-Gillingham (OG) tutor. As a OG tutor, I use a multi-sensory approach to learning that helps a student to retain their new reading skills. I have experience tutoring students from Kindergarten through adult.

Phonics

I am a Certified Reading Instruction Specialist with a comprehensive, sequential phonics reading program that teaches the foundational skills of reading. I will teach students about the 44 sounds of the English language and provide them with the tools they need to improve their decoding, spelling, fluency and reading comprehension skills.

Dyslexia

I am a reading tutor with experience working with dyslexic students. I have done extensive research on "what works" for these students. I am a certified Orton-Gillingham tutor. I am a Reading Instruction Specialist certified in comprehensive, sequential phonics-based reading program with proven success in reading for children and teens.
