I have been using Adobe InDesign since it's introduction (as the Adobe replacement for Pagemaker and to its chief rival for page layout programs - QuarkXpress).
I have a good command of the interface and can readily communicate this experience as a tutor.
In addition, my comprehensive knowledge of the companion programs within Adobe Creative (such as Photoshop and Illustrator) are valuable assets that add to my overall tutoring competencies in this manner. I am able to demonstrate these skills as a tutor in order to help someone make the most of their ambitions when learning how to use this product.
Hello (from Mike).
I am a graphics professional, and I have been using Photoshop for well over a decade. It is probably my favorite of all the graphics programs and is an important part of my competency as a graphic designer.
I use Photoshop daily. I know this program top to bottom! And, I love it! I really got to know the product during almost 10 years at Kraft Foods, at which time I was a member of the Graphics and Publishing Services Department (HQ location) in Northfield, IL.
I enjoy tutoring a lot. It is gratifying to help someone to more fully understand and learn what is important and useful to them. It's a lot fun to bring all of my professional experience together in ways that are helpful and meaningful to another!
I say this in part because Photoshop is a program that when first encountered (and, I speak from my own experience), can be intimidating and oh, so complicated to learn. It was for me the first time I used it. But...
The good news is that all this real world experience has given me the ability to share with you and clearly explain many of the features of the program...in ways that are not only easy to understand, but are shown to you in practical step by step methods. We work together at your pace, geared to your specific needs and requests. It's a great one on one learning experience.
I assure you, it can be a real eye-opener investment towards your competence and confidence building!
If you are interested in my help as a tutor for Photoshop, please send me a brief request of what you need.
I will respond to your inquiry promptly.
Guitar! Wow...I love so many things in life. (and if you read my bio info, then you know I have my interests in a lot of areas).
But I honestly can say here that my love for playing guitar and teaching/tutoring it goes back a long ways. I started playing guitar when I was about 12 or 13 years old. And I have continued to play it all of my life, and, for a number of years on the road professionally with a group.
Teaching and tutoring is a great (and fun!) way to share this love of the instrument with others, and most of my time is spent teaching guitar, in private lessons as well as group lessons at numerous Park Districts in the area. It's a busy and very interesting career!
As your tutor, I would offer you the equivalent of private lessons (and with all of the convenience of working through WyzAnt) - as a great one on one learning experience for guitar! Sound cool? It is!
I can you teach acoustic guitar, classical guitar, or electric (modern rock).
I am versatile to your needs; be it learning from a course or book type of format, or even if you prefer learning by "playing by ear" if you will.
I studied at the Chicago Music Conservatory, and I can teach you how to read music, starting with single note patterns, and working into chord structure (with or without vocal accompaniment); I can teach you how to play rock and roll scales and "lead parts" only, or in conjunction with chord patterns, etc.; I can teach you "fingerpicking" for acoustic guitars. The possibilities are many.
It's your choice, and that's the beauty of it!
You pick what kind of guitar skills you want to develop...and I will help you do that, at a pace that is comfortable and satisfying to your needs.
If this sounds good to you, please contact me through WyzAnt and we can get started right away!
Learning guitar is...a lot of fun!!!
I look forward to hearing from you soon!
My name is Mike.
I live in nearby Gurnee and if you are interested in a photography tutor, well you have come to the right place!
I am a graphics professional by trade and I have a degree in graphic design. I also enjoy many years of personal experience with photography. Many years ago I was introduced to photography by my late father and mother-in-laws. Both were highly skilled nature photographers. Back then we shot 35mm slides (pre-digital) and I also learned how to develop and print my own photography. I grew to love it and, of course, now I only shoot with a digital SLR (single lens reflex) camera. Photography has come such a long way in such a short time.
Over the years, I have developed a keen sense of the elements necessary to create and produce a good photograph. It is truly a learning experience - the results often prove the worth of the efforts one has spent. In addition, photography has become an important companion in my work as a graphic designer. I can help you to better understand this interesting medium - in color as well as in black and white.
What I can offer you is practical hands-on experience on the technical and conceptual aspects of photography. We can also take it to an entirely new level through the use of a graphics program (such as Photoshop) to enhance or bring out the best in your photography. Even if you have little or no experience with a program like Photoshop, that will surely be a big plus in this tutoring experience through me if that is of interest to you.
I love photography and I love Photoshop, and I can help you learn a lot about each of these tools.
My goal is to help you 'see' some of the important visual elements and ingredients necessary for good photographic composition. These are the combinations which will yield interesting creative photos!
Lastly, and just as important, I also know a lot about the technical and mechanical aspects of a camera (i.e.- aperture, shutter, ISO, etc.) and I can explain to you in practical terms what those little symbols mean and how they work without making it all too complicated.
If that sounds good to you, please contact me for some tutoring!
I look forward to hearing back from you soon.
I have over fifteen years experience with general web design - Adobe Creative Suite is the primary engine I use for creative design and implementation. Dreamweaver, Flash, and, of course, Photoshop and Illustrator are the main programs used.
