I have had the privilege and pleasure to teach Spanish to students in public and private schools, including grades 1 through 12. I have also prepared students to take, and achieve highly satisfactory results from, the National Spanish Exam. My goal is to enable students to feel comfortable and confident to read, write, understand and speak Spanish - and have fun doing it!
To ensure that students are engaged in learning, I plan lessons involving culture and creativity for students to learn successful Spanish communication skills involving relevant vocabulary and grammar, in context. Learning Spanish involves a broad variety of activities including games, dialogues, plays, posters, videos and more that draw students into the language and culture. I request that students regularly respond to a brief questionnaire requesting their thoughts about our lessons, including their comments about what they feel suits them best to grasp Spanish successfully.
I have a Masters degree in teaching for students through the high school level. Being able to speak Spanish is an excellent skill in the United States, where there are more native Spanish speakers in any other country except Mexico. I have gone to university, lived and worked as a marketing communications professional as well as a journalist in Spain and South America. It is a privilege to enable young people to grasp a second language. I have had the privilege and pleasure to teach Spanish to students in public and private schools, including grades 1 through 12. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a Spanish teacher with a Master's degree, certified in teaching grades K-12. I have taught Spanish and French in both public and private schools, including honors/gifted students, as well as students with special needs. I have also substituted as a bilingual teacher, and am able to speak native Spanish. I lived and worked in South America.
My passion is to help students boost their confidence and reach their personal learning goals, including reading, writing and speaking Spanish - and enjoy it. We work together using a variety of activities to help each student learn all they need to know, and more.
I am dedicated to connecting with each individual student, get to know them and their learning challenges, then lead them to a higher level overall. I aim to help them look forward to their Spanish class. Please feel free to let me help your student engage and do well in Spanish. Thank you.
