My focus will be on ACT reading,ACT English, grammar, vocabulary, AP History, social studies and government including the Constitution. I was a state of Illinois certified teacher. I am a student oriented person who likes to work with students one-on-one or in a group. I let the parents and students tell me what they need me to do. My job will be to identify where the student is having difficulty and then help the student succeed.

I am available to tutor almost any time in ACT reading, ACT English, US or world history, US constitution and government. My experience as a teacher will allow me to connect with the parents and students in a positive proactive manner. Parents and students come first.

My students nominated me for Who's Who Among America's Teachers in 1998 and 2000. I still have the plaques. It was proof that my relationship with students was very strong. I felt it really was an award for them. I hope to continue helping students succeed!

American History

I have taught American History for several years. I have a bachelor's and master's degree in history. I am student oriented.
I know I can help student's based on my experience.

Vocabulary

Knowing the meaning of words can be so important for students. That is vocabulary.
The more vocabulary words you know, very often it can mean the difference in passing or failing a test or a class. Having a good knowledge of word meanings can also make you do well in many different subjects! I can make a difference in your vocabulary skills.

Grammar

Grammar is so important. When we apply to a job or a school, using proper grammar can make a difference in whether we obtain what we want. Grammar is not difficult, it can be mastered with the right instruction. I hope to tutor students in grammar. I can help you!

European History

European history is one of my specialties.
I have taught it for many years. I like to break it down into smaller pieces so as to allow students to absorb this subject. Many students find it interesting when I point out that their ancestors might be part of European History. You can learn this subject!

Reading

Reading comprehension is an important part of elementary education. Students must be able to understand what the author is saying.
By tutoring elementary students in such a way as to understand the meaning of words they may not understand, the student can begin to understand the idea of the author.
I can bring the student to the comprehension level after a few lessons, based on my teaching experience.

Writing

The ability to write correct and complete essays is important in many school subjects. Effective essays are also a component of ACT and SAT examinations. Excellent writing skills are a significant part of the educational process and can lead to better grades and examination results. My experience as a teacher can help students increase their writing technique.

Geography

Geography can be a very fun subject. I like to make learning/tutoring fun. Many students
like geography when it is explained to them in an understandable format. It's really not that hard! It can be rewarding also if you plan to travel. I can help you!

English

Being a teacher requires a very good grasp of English. I am very confident that I can help your student succeed in any English situation. I know my years as a teacher can be an advantage to the student studying English. I like to make learning fun!

Government & Politics

Many students that I have taught were surprised that government is one way of protecting citizens civil rights. It is important for students to know that our rights are part of our government structure.
The law is there to ensure that we all have our protection and freedom. I can show you
how to find and understand government.

Literature

Literature is an important subject. It can also be fun. How well we read and understand literature is very important in being successful in school. I can guide you through any literature subject. I will explain the subject matter and help you obtain a sound grasp of the subject matter assigned to you.

World History

World history is an important subject. Many students find it complicated but it really isn't.One way I like to make it easier for students is to have them look into their own family history. That is world history. With books or the internet, students can find a wealth of information on any world histoy subject. It is much easier that you might think.

SAT Reading

The SAT reading test is an exam of how well the student can comprehend vocabulary and the meaning of certain reading passages. The way to approach this test is to carefully read the question and seek inferences that will point the student to the answer. This is what I will do as a tutor of SAT reading.

ACT Reading

The reading test on the ACT is an important part of the test. It is important for the student to understand the meaning of each passage. I will help the ACT test takers obtain the way to understand the concepts of the ACT reading tests. The best way to do this is help the student break down the passages into parts and then understand the entire meaning of the reading passage.

ACT English

ACT English is a very important part of the exam process. A thorough tutorial in this area is a good way to prepare for the test.
My focus will be on all segments of the test
and how best to use the time allotted to complete the exam. Reviewing ACT test booklets will be used as well to improve the students test taking ability.

Guitar


I have been playing guitar since 2004 and performing and tutoring guitar since 2006.
I have studied guitar at 3 professional studios in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. They are Burns Studio (affiliated with Moraine Valley Community College),Southwest Music Center, and Players Guitar. I can provide phone numbers for these studios upon request.

I have been playing golf for many years. I previously was a caddy at Beverly Country Club in Chicago. I was also an assistant golf coach at Benito Juarez Community Academy in Chicago in the 1990s. I am currently teaching the game of golf to a colleague of mine. I can obtain a recommendation from my current golf student. He is a lawyer for the Illinois Commerce Commission.
