As you can see by my title, my passion lies with the fine art of writing, the study of history, and reading. Looking through the various tutoring requests, I know there is a big need for writing help and learning study skills. I would love the opportunity to share my experience with current students. I'd hate to think all of my paper-writing in school going to waste! There doesn't seem to be quite as many requests for the subject of history, but if you ever need assistance in this field, I'm your man!
I currently work full-time in the youth services department of a public library, which has given me numerous opportunities to help out young patrons-Kindergarten through 8th grade-with homework and basic computer skills. My job has also given me the opportunity to learn a number of computer programs crucial for student needs, such as Microsoft Works, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint. My readers' advisory has also expanded over my nine-year employment at the library, particularly in the area of children's literature. If you happen to be looking for books for that reluctant reader, or need something within the acceptable Accelerated Reader or Lexile range, let me know!
As for my educational background, I studied History at the College of DuPage and Hannibal LaGrange College, receiving my B.A. in 2002. Needless to say, the study of history requires a thorough understanding of researching and writing papers. I'm currently halfway through my master's program at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee to acquire my MLIS-Masters of Library and Information Services-where the knowledge of technology is just as crucial as learning the inner workings of the library.
