Math has always been my strong suit. I am involved in business and use math and analysis to ask the right questions and hopefully help lead me and my clients in the right direction. The key for me is help make it clear why we are using these tools and make them understandable.

Business

I have worked in banking for 20+ years plus in business consulting for 5 years. I am financially oriented in my consulting which includes cash flow planning, budgeting, projections, financial and credit analysis, strategic planning, business plans, etc. I have held sales and marketing positions in addition to CFO. I am the owner/partial owner of 3 businesses.

Chess

Chess is a game of strategy and logic, planning and gamesmanship. I have played off and on over the past 40 years. I can help you with the rules, basic strategy and level 1 opening moves which will get you started. From there, your desire and passion will determine whether a chess club and higher level instruction is right for you. We can incorporate other logic and strategy games, Clue, Sodoku, puzzles, math, card games, etc. Chess can be a great tool to bring out lessons in how to think and plan.

Economics

Economics, Banking, Corporate Finance, Finance, Accounting, Business, Business Analyis, Credit, Lending, Equity, Investments, ROI

Logic

Logic is a method of understanding where you are, knowing where you want to go and planning and executing strategy on how to get there. It can be both intuitive and methodical. I have done logic puzzles, games, chess, math and algebra (for work and for fun) over the past 45 years. I can help you with the rules (how to get started), basic strategies. From there, your desire and passion will determine whether you continue to challenge your mind on a regular basis. We can incorporate logic and strategy games, Clue, Sodoku, puzzles, math, card games, etc. Chess can be a great tool to bring out lessons in how to think and plan. Let's have some fun.

Microsoft Excel

Excel spreadsheet basics, Pivot tables, high end formulas, financial, business, modeling, charts. Use excel effectively as a tool. Take the mystery out. Learn the just the basics or go for the gold, your choice.

Microsoft Word

Work basics, formatting and mid level training. Use Word effectively as a tool. Take the mystery out. Learn just the basics or go for the gold, your choice. I use Word every day for work to communicate with my business clients.

QuickBooks

I have been a user of Quickbooks for 7 years. I run the ongoing books for 6 different companies, 3 of which are my own. I have used QB Pro, Enterprise and Premier. I have set up the chart of accounts for 20 different companies, including services and manufacturing companies. My focus is on using QB's a easy tool to MANAGE the business in real time, rather than just tax data collection months after the fact. Mentoring, coaching, teaching, implementing.

Tax Preparation

I have done Business Taxes for past 6 years. LLC, S Corp, C Corp, Partnership. Personal Taxes as well for 30 years. I mostly use Turbo Tax which works well with my favorite business accounting system, Quickbooks. I can start you on your way with self prepared business or personal taxes as well as tax driven strategics that include trusts and business structures, exit plans and overall strategies. For specific income tax or sales tax questions, please consult your CPA. For specific payroll tax questions, consult your payroll processing company.

Cash flow is ultimately what drives us in our personal lives or in business. We look at the Cash In's and the Cash Out's. If we have more cash coming in than cash going out, we call that Cash Flow Positive. If cash out is more, we call that Cash Flow Negative. We can be negative from time to time, but not for too long or if we don't balance it out with periods of positive. Over that past... read more

I find that Math can be really useful. I mean, useful in the Real World. -Is the cereal in the 25 oz box at price X a better deal than two 13.5 oz boxes on special? -How much carpeting do we need to order? Did the contractor charge for the correct amount of work? -If I want my kids to be able to go to college, how much do I need to start saving every month? It also can... read more

I'm a little biased. I prefer the additional controls, options and multiple windows you get with Quickbooks on your desktop. Also, for multiple businesses, you can run all on the same purchased program (1 time fee). The On-line version has been steadily improving (adding inventory and custom forms) and you can't beat it if you have multiple users and you want to avoid a centralized server. So,... read more
