I got an MS in Material Science from the University of Vermont while I was running Physics labs and tutoring students who needed help.
Then I got Ph.D. in Material Science from the University of Illinois at Chicago. I graded HW for the Introduction to Materials or for Statics. During my office hours, I tutored students. For small tests, I wrote my own lay-out to grade them.
Even if I did not speak with the student who came for advice, I could see some improvement of their grades.
