Hi everyone!
My name's Rizo and I am an ideal tutor for you. I am currently enrolled at Northwestern University's graduate program in education. I am working towards obtaining my master's degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in Mathematics. I have worked as a private tutor before as well as for a tutoring company. In addition to tutoring, I worked in the financial services for 4+ years in Securities Valuations. So as you can guess, I LOVE math!
To me, I enjoy math because it is a challenge. When you get past a challenge, it's a great feeling. Because I treat every math problem as a challenge, and due to my competitive nature, I feel that when I get the problem right I have really accomplished something.
My tutoring experience includes ACT/SAT Math prep, pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry, Calculus, and Statistics.
In my experience, I look to find a method that works best for the student. I am a big believer in Howard Gardner's theory on Multiple Intelligences. This theory suggests that every individual has a set of 8 intelligences, but individuals may be more advanced in certain intelligences than others and vice versa. What this means is that there are opportunities to teach students how to do problems in a variety of different ways that will play to their strengths. Not all students are the same, and this is something that I appreciate and actually look forward to dealing with when I am teaching in a high school classroom one day.
I really look forward to hearing from you!
Cheers,
Rizo
