Hi Everybody,
My name is Mike, and I'd like to give you a brief description of my qualifications.
I graduated from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI with a degree in chemistry in 2007. While there, my courses consisted largely of chemistry and the math that I would require to understand and work with it. My coursework touched on all areas of chemistry, with a special focus on inorganic chemistry. Additionally, I spent two summers involved in an undergraduate research program under the tutelage of one of the professors. Immediately following my graduation from Calvin, I enrolled in a PhD program at Northwestern University. There I had a short period of coursework, followed by roughly 5 years of doing basic research in physical, inorganic, and electrochemistry, finally receiving my PhD a few months ago.
I work best with one-on-one tutoring so that I can best get a feel for the learning style of the student, and how best to help them master the subject, as everyone learns differently. I spent a significant amount of time during graduate school as a TA for undergraduate chemistry courses, including study sessions, office hours, and lab sessions. I have become adept at helping students through problems in basic chemistry and more advanced material, and found that I really enjoy it! I look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your goals!
Mike
