Dynamic, experienced, patient, credentialed middle and high school teacher and award-winning writer available to successfully teach all types of writing, literary analysis, grammar, vocabulary, ESL, critical thinking and test-prep.

Few teachers have experience writing or really know how to teach the writing process; I do. My teaching is influenced by author-educators including Atwell, Calkins, Elbow, Graves, and others. Exceptionally skilled at working with underachievers, gifted, and twice-exceptional learners.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Hebrew

Modern Hebrew speaking, reading, writing.

I am fluent in Modern Hebrew, having studied it in high school, worked among speakers of the language for several years, corresponded with cousins in Israel, and having lived in Israel for a time and visited often. I continue to read and respond to friends' and cousins' letters in Hebrew quite regularly, read Haaretz, a daily newspaper, several times a week, listen to Israeli music, and speak conversationally to friends in my community in Hebrew. I am a highly skilled and experienced English/Language Arts and ESL teacher as well.

Writing

I teach analytical college essay and application writing, literary analysis, personal narrative essays, creative, and business writing. I have successfully tutored all aspects of writing-- brainstorming, rewriting, organization, drafting, revising-- to students of all ages, from primary through high school, including college and PhD candidates.
