My name is Brit, and I am currently in my fourth and final year of school at Elmhurst College studying special education.
In high school I was almost always on high honor roll, and if I wasn't, I was on honor roll instead. I graduated with a 3.5 GPA and received a 26 on my ACT. Since starting college, I have been on Dean's list every semester. I am currently at a 3.7 GPA.
It goes without saying that I enjoy working with students. I want to teach because I love to see a person grow. There is no greater feeling than seeing an "a-ha" moment when a student finally grasps a concept because of your instruction.
I've worked with kids in the babysitting and nannying setting. Both have included homework help and preparing for school tests.
Since I am an education major, I have been in the school setting a great deal. I have over fifty hours of participation in classrooms ranging from preschool to grade 12. I've taught lessons to large groups, led small group instruction, and have also worked one-on-one with many students. Beginning in the Spring of 2014, I will be student teaching at two different schools.
Overall, I would really enjoy the opportunity to work with your students. I believe that teachers can learn from students as well as the other way around. My summer schedule during the week is always fairly open to squeeze in tutoring sessions, and weekends are never out of the question.
