Hello, students and parents! With my BA in Economics with Honors from the College of William and Mary, having successfully completed record-breaking triple course loads, and thus having quickly earned about 10 years of college credit, I tutor all levels of economics, mathematics, test prep, college planning, French, and politics, and more:
* Economics: Including Macroeconomics, microeconomics, and econometrics
- 100 to 400-level classes (MBA and college prep)
- Business economics and forecasting
* Mathematics: Through Calculus 3, Differential Equations (PDEs and SDEs), and Advanced Statistics
* Test Prep: GRE/GMAT/SAT/ACT, Study Skills and College Advising
* French, Politics, International Relations, and much, much more
My advanced academic studies, personal enthusiasm, and teaching experience combine to assist you in helping you to find economics and math not just easy but fun. A couple years ago, I was in your shoes. Economics and math seemed hard; yet once you understand, it becomes really easy. Today, I still remember how to take those ideas and communicate them the way I had wished they had been communicated. No matter how basic or advanced your objectives, I am entirely focused on helping you achieve your goals.
My economics background includes completing advanced 400-level coursework across macroeconomics and microeconomics and such graduate-level coursework as Time-Series Econometrics and Cross-Section Econometrics. In addition to tutoring macro and micro, I have also TA-ed Applied Financial Derivatives--the hardest rated economics class at the College of William and Mary--and Econometrics. Helping teach these classes, I graded assignments and exams and helped students like you successfully complete their homework, develop original research projects, and discover how fun and useful economics truly is. In addition to having read hundreds of original research articles, I have completed dozens of economics projects using advanced concepts from micro and macro theory and econometrics, culminating in my honors thesis. Further, I have attended PhD-level conferences in which leading academics, including Nobel prize winners and eminent textbook authors (e.g. Wooldridge and Hamilton), and have presented original research. Because of my own academic studies, tutoring experience, and awareness of advanced technical aspects, I understand how difficult economics can be at the beginning, know how useful economics is, and how to make it a delight.
My mathematics background includes coursework through Calculus 3, Differential Equations, and graduate-level Statistics. Through grade school, my math performance included multiple first place math prizes in city-wide math competitions (e.g. MathCounts, Math Olympiad) and more recently includes work in stochastic partial differential equations, programming numerical solutions to mathematical problems, and original research involving panel data statistical analysis. A strong foundation in mathematics is tremendously useful and makes many other fields much easier, and I would be delighted to help you achieve your goals.
My statistics background includes undergraduate and very advanced graduate-level topics. My undergraduate experience includes Statistics, Econometrics, Political Research Methods, Experimental Psychology, and Nursing Statistics tutoring. My graduate-level background includes Time-Series and Cross Section Econometrics, artificial neural networks, Bayesian statistics (e.g. shrinkage, conditional probabilities, entropy pooling), global optimization (e.g. genetic algorithms, simulated annealing), multivariate statistics geometry (e.g. copulas, Mahalanobis, various advanced distributions), and Quantum Mechanics and Quantum Computing (including complex superpositioned probability).
Online tutoring is also really fun, which I discovered originally at a student's request. With Skype, email, and other online tutoring tools, I have taught students economic concepts, mathematics problems and derivations, and Time-Series Forecasting in STATA and Excel. Even if you don't have a webcam, I can still teach you what to learn to get the grade or complete your work project whether you are across Chicagoland or traveling for work worldwide.
My experiences have also included serving in the British Parliament, studying at Oxford University, the London School of Economics, and the top linguistics school in France, and helping businesses and financial institutions make sense of their data. Through these experiences, I have discovered that one of the things I love most is learning and helping students understand new concepts and succeed in-person and online.
