Before reading: I wanted to mention I enjoy working with students and adults. I originally wrote this profile addressed to parents of students as I thought they would be the primary audience on this website. However, after receiving several inquiries from adults desiring to be coached, I wanted to highlight this upfront as coaching adults is something I greatly enjoy as well.

Please read this profile as written to either parents of students or to you as a more experienced student (adult).

Hello parents,

You care about your students and who works with them. You want so badly for them to be successful in school, athletics, and in life. You know they have what it takes and are looking for help to draw that ability out. Please allow me the privilege of partnering with your student to get results, develop a love of learning, and enjoy the process. We can make your student's desire to improve a reality.

Who am I? I am a 40 year old entrepreneur/businessman who has a day job with a billion dollar company facilitating workshops and coaching business leaders. I have worked with executives at large companies such as Union Pacific, Accenture, and Avaya. I have trained public school teachers on how to be more effective in the classroom. I have consulted with non-profits on building and developing a winning culture. Early in my career, I was an English, reading, math, science teacher, cross country, track, basketball coach, and youth director. I don't remember getting much sleep during that season of life.

My specialty is enhancing human performance in learning, athletics, business, and life. In short, I help people of all ages improve in the area of their choice. I have a bachelor's in Communication and a master's degree in Transformational Leadership to support this process as well as the practical experience of being able to draw on all specific disciplines mentioned above. I have traveled the world extensively and have worked with people from 50+ countries due to certifications in several coaching tools in business and personal development. Once upon a time I also played college basketball in Michigan and professional basketball in Europe. It seems like a while ago now (if you are 40 or over you probably can relate).

Great for you Erik, but can you connect with my student? Yes, I can connect with whatever your student needs/wants to learn though you will be the final judge of whether we move forward. We want to all sign off that we feel it is a good match for me to help you or your student progress. If we all say yes, my aim is to draw out the greatness in you or your son or daughter even if it currently seems to be hiding or needs a little enhancing. We all need a little help from time to time to get unstuck.

Why am I doing this tutoring/coaching work? This is my way to give back to the community and spread the love of growth, excellence, and learning to the next generation. My work allows me to flex my schedule for this purpose. Imagine the joy it will give all of us to see your child develop learning patterns that will help him/her succeed for a lifetime. Imagine the feeling of making breakthroughs as an adult with patterns you have dealt with for years. The path to success will be unique with each student/person. That is the fun part. We get to co-discover the path that will work best.

All that said, I am only open to working with a couple people at a time because I have a day job, a part time non-profit job, as well as a need to relax and unplug from time to time.

Students,

You have something special in you that wants to express itself in the world. Grades and learning buy you the luxury of studying exactly what you want in life and expressing what you are good at and enjoy every day. Though it has taken me a while, I am now getting paid very well to do exactly what I want to do every day. It is a great feeling to get up in the morning and have your work match your passions for life. Let's discover together how to use your studies, interests, and/or athletics to create a life that brings you joy and pays the bills. It will take hard work now and pay off the rest of your life.

Adults, your best life is still in front of you and you now have the wisdom and discipline to enjoy it.

I look forward to meeting you,

-Erik

I have run my own basketball camps for boys and girls from 3 years old to college age. You will not find many people with more basketball experience.

Bible Studies

I was a youth pastor at Lake Superior Christian Church for several years before joining the staff at Willow Creek Community Church while I was finishing my master's degree. I have been through seminary and continue to read and practice the wisdom in the Bible daily. I know the Bible and how to make it interesting to all ages. It can be alive and inspirational

Bodybuilding

I have worked out all my life and was a trainer at the Streamwood Park District for 3 years. I still am active and can help anyone get in the physical shape they want to while lifting weights safely.

Your child can benefit from the confidence and discipline that comes with setting their mind and seeing their body change to fit their goals.

Career Development

I have had many careers over the years from teacher and coach to minister to auto parts driver to youth home worker to consultant. I now own my own business working for large companies as a facilitator and coach. Part of what I do at these companies is help people find the career that will best suit who they are at a deep core level. Let me help you with this too.

Public Speaking

I coach junior high and high school students to wow their teachers and classmates with content and delivery. As a former speech teacher and coach, I currently facilitate workshops for students, teachers, and business executives on how to improve their communication.

Speech

Let me help you or your child be successful with all areas of speech: non-verbal, interpersonal, small groups, or public address. I have done so for 10 years. This is my specialty in working with students. I currently stay sharp coaching people who communicate daily (teachers, pastors, and business executives).
