Drawing

I have had a variety of rich experiences that have prepared me well to be a wonderful Drawing tutor. My undergraduate degree is in Drawing & Painting from Loyola University Chicago. I worked in everything from oils and gouache to pen & ink during those four years. I completed a senior thesis drawing project which went up for exhibition. I proceeded to attend the School of the Art Institute of Chicago on a scholarship for two semesters. I focused on printmaking techniques. As the basis of all printmaking really is drawing & illustration, I was able to further exercise and develop my drawing skills.

In more recent years, I was an assistant art teacher at a public Japanese junior high school in Japan. The town was famous for its emphasis on the importance of drawing. Every fall the entire student population and community would go outside for one entire day & draw/paint pictures of their small town. I guided students & townspeople in rendering their town beautifully. I also participated and made my own drawing annually for 5 years in a row.

While in Japan, I also participated in the largest design event in Asia, called Design Festa. I designed and printed my own line of clothing, textile products and silkscreen prints. It was exhibited amongst many other artists in Tokyo for three days in the spring of 2010.

To this day, I still draw, paint and silkscreen on a regular basis. Most recently, I screen-printed the uniforms for my husband's business. Currently, I am a Japanese tutor to a small child. However, I have taught people from age 3 up to age 93 in the past 10+years. I feel I can tutor any age student & would love to share my experiences & knowledge with a student curious about drawing.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
