Learn with someone who understands how to teach effectively!

I take a student-centered approach to tutoring. I tailor tutoring sessions to address the specific needs of the student. I also prepare supplementary material for the student which complements their text and material.

In my career, I have taught heterogeneous groups of students to learn to speak, write and read English. I also bring a love of algebra and have experience in tutoring. Harkening back to high school, I recall that the SAT and ACT tests loom large for all students. I enjoyed taking these tests and I scored well. Let me show you what you need to know to be prepared.

Tutoring is very rewarding and I enjoy what I do! My schedule is flexible and I can work to meet your availability.

Lets work together and achieve your goals!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Cooking

Cooking can be fun and easy! Starting with the basics of cooking and baking, we can build your skills so that you can tackle any recipe. I am a self-taught cook who can give you the confidence you need to make the meals you desire.

Standard American, Italian, Mexican, Asian and Bohemian recipes are all made simple and easy to follow with my one-on-one instruction. You will find that cooking doesn't have to be difficult or time-consuming. Add a whole new dimension to your life by cooking confidently!

Elementary (K-6th)

I enjoy tutoring at the elementary level. My experience dates back to when I was in elementary school and helped my classmates. I like to work with children and promote personal progress.

Math, reading, English and science can be mastered. I provide supplemental materials to complement your texts and assignments. The tutoring atmosphere is comfortable and encourages questions and feedback.

Let's work together to achieve your goals!

ESL/ESOL

I really enjoy teaching ESL! I have a master's degree in Applied Linguistics. I have taught at the university level, as well tutoring individual students.

I supply a rich variety of supplemental materials and reference sheets. I tailor each lesson to your specific needs. Homework is given and feedback is provided. You will notice an improvement in your English skills almost immediately. Instruction is given in reading, writing, and conversation.

Learning ESL is a very important part of your personal success. I approach each lesson with you in mind and I care about your success.

Let's work together to reach your goals!

Phonics

Learn to love and master phonics! Phonics is the method of learning to decode sounds of letter combinations. Since there are rules that govern the sounds of particular blends, once you master these, you can take off confidently on your own.

A fun dimension of learning phonics is the plethora of rhymes that result from certain blends! Pictures also aid in the adaptation of blends. Phonics is enjoyable and sometimes a bit of a puzzle to solve.

Let's work together and prepare for you to take off on your own with an enriched understanding of letters and combinations!

Sewing

Sewing has been my lifelong passion! Start with basics and build your skills to tackle any project. From cutting a pattern, to navigating the fabric store, to threading your first machine needle, you will learn the standards of this craft. Sewing is a multi-faceted skill that requires the command of a number of skills and a focus on accuracy which result in a work of art!

The hardest part of sewing is taking the first step. I provide a student-centered approach to the learning progress. We will move at your pace. You will choose the projects you would like to complete, while picking up skills along the way. Just imagine the satisfaction you will feel when you sew something yourself!
