I have taught at 7 different colleges (public, private, and technical). I received awards for my teaching based on student evaluations - mostly because I am patient and take time to tutor students having trouble. I have also written high school math textbooks. I know math and I want to help you know it, too!

I have taught non-credit college courses: Pre-algebra 1 and 2, Elementary Algebra, and Intermediate Algebra, which correspond with 7th and 8th grade math and Algebra 1. I have taught required math courses for college credit: College Algebra, Trigonometry, and Calculus, which correspond with Algebra 2, Precalculus, and Calculus. I have taught many applied math courses: Statistics, Numerical Methods, Geometry, Discrete Math, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations. I have also taught every courses in a math major besides the applied math courses listed above: Complex Variables, Multivariate Calculus, Set Theory and Logic, Foundations of Math, Abstract Algebra, Real Analysis, and Topology.

I do NOT do homework for students. First, I learn where they are, and then I ask questions until they see what to do! The goal is for students to understand, so that they can deal with test questions after they have done the homework.

Algebra 1

I have taught Pre-algebra, Elementary Algebra, and Intermediate Algebra at various colleges. These courses correspond with material covered in Algebra 1. I have also written a high school textbook for Algebra 1. I can definitely help you learn this topic.

Algebra 2

I have written an Algebra 2 Textbook (for BJU Press), and I have taught College Algebra, Trig or both at 6 colleges (including ITT Tech).

Calculus

I have taught Calculus at 3 different colleges. The precalculus text that I wrote has two chapters on calculus at the end. I have also tutored students in Calculus at every college that I taught Calculus at.

Geometry

I have taught Geometry at 4 different colleges: 2 intended for math majors, and 2 as practical applications for other majors. Courses for math majors emphasize proofs, while applications courses stress computations (degrees, perimeter, area, volume). I also wrote a textbook on geometry that stressed proofs in about half of the chapters. If you're doing proofs, I can help you; if you're doing calculations, it will be even easier!

Prealgebra

I have taught Pre-algebra 1 and 2. I can communicate well at this level and I have a lot of patience, so check me out!

Precalculus

I have taught the material covered in precalculus at several colleges. I have also written a book. Finally, I have tutored students who had difficulty at each college where I taught and also on the phone for the publishing company of my book!

Trigonometry

I have taught trigonometry as a course at 4 different colleges. Trig was also a unit in a course at a fifth college. I have also written a textbook that covers trig.

Writing

I have written about 40 books. Most of them are high school (and junior high) math text books and ancillaries (teachers editions, activities manuals, and test packets). However, I have also written a geography text, a logic text, and 7 general-interest books. Statistics

In our culture statistics are essential in education for interpreting grades and in business for making marketing decisions and checking quality control at factories. Statistics are also needed by consumers in sifting through advertising fictions, and even for interpreting articles on sports. I have taught statistics at 5 different colleges, and I have tutored struggling students at all 5! I can help you as well!

Geography

I have written a geography textbook for high schools. I am also an avid geography hobbyist, mountain climber, and waterfall visitor. I can help you with geography!

GRE

The general test of the GRE is not difficult. However, the specialized subject area tests are very difficult. I took the specialized test for math, but there are different ones for each major. Helping students with the general test is much like helping them with the ACT. If you need help preparing for the specialized test, you will need to find someone who has a masters in your major.

Proofreading

I wrote textbooks for 15 years on the clock for a publishing company. During that time, I also passed the editorial test. After that I proofread many books by other writers and also edited two books by other writers. I can definitely help you with proofreading!

Probability

I have taught probability in conjunction with every statistics course I ever taught. I have also taught probability in lower division courses such as College Math, College Algebra, and Problem Solving. I have also written a chapter on probability in several books. I can definitely help you learn this subject.

ACT Math

The ACT seeks to test thinking skills, and therefore it's impossible to teach to the test. Obtain the practice ACT and do it in the correct time length. I can check your work, and go through any problems that you missed with you. If you want more help on the kinds of problems you missed, I can make some more up.

Hebrew

I took my first year of Hebrew at Pillsbury Baptist Bible College. I then took two more years of Hebrew (as well as a semester of Aramaic) as a graduate student at Bob Jones University.

Discrete Math

I have taught this course at Westwood College. Since this course is often for computer majors, I have also taught both computer programming and Numerical Methods at 2 other colleges. Since I have a masters in math, this course is easy.

Differential Equations

I have taught Differential Equations at 2 different colleges. Also, at a third college (ITT Tech), I taught Technical Calculus, which covers differential equations for about half of the course. Having taught the subject, I can certainly tutor it!

Greek

I took my first year of Greek at Judson Baptist College in Oregon. Since then I earned a bachelor's degree in Greek from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Minnesota. I also took some graduate Greek courses during my master's in Bible at Bob Jones University in South Carolina.

C++

I have taught C++ at the college level. I will be able to help you learn the material or debug your programs.

Linear Algebra

I have taught Linear Algebra for 2 different colleges. At both colleges, the course was designed for math majors, so if you are taking a more applied version, it will be even easier.

Logic

I have written a textbook on logic (Better Thinking and Reasoning), and I have taught Set Theory and Logic and Foundations of Math in math departments. I have also taught Logic in a philosophy department.

Pascal

I have taught programming in Pascal at the college level. I also taught a follow-up math course in Numerical Methods that required Pascal programming. I will be able to help you learn the material or to debug your programs.
