I am a recent graduate of Hillsdale College, a rigorous liberal arts college in Michigan, where I graduated magna cum laude. I have been accepted to Northwestern Law School. Currently, I am spending a year working in order to take a break from school and to spend more time with my wife before law school. My tutoring strengths are those involving standardized tests and mathematics. I achieved a perfect score on the SAT and GRE math sections and scored in the 99% percentile on the LSAT both times I took the test.
As strange as it sounds, I love mathematics, standardized tests, and tutoring. I sincerely love helping others succeed. I spent all of middle school and high school tutoring my classmates in every math subject from pre-algebra to calculus. Last fall I tutored my roommate for the LSAT, and he improved his score from a 151 to a 157.
For math subjects, I would prefer if the student owns a copy of the textbook he or she wishes to use. I will work with any textbook, but I would prefer to work with the system to which the student is already accustomed. If the student prefers a different textbook than one he or she has worked with before, I will certainly use the system the student requests. I am comfortable teaching elementary math, pre-algebra, algebra I, geometry, algebra II, trigonometry, pre-calculus, and calculus I, and I scored a 5 on the AP calculus test.
For LSAT tutoring, I will also work with any book a student might wish to work through. I prefer a hands-on approach to teaching, in which concepts are learned by the student by careful guidance as the student works through problems. Actual understanding of the logical principles is more important than learning a few tricks for obscure, individual situations.
Overall, I am young and energetic. I am excited to give all my energies to my students and assist them in reaching higher scores. Let me help you! You won't regret it.
