I am fortunate enough to have worked with first through third grade special needs children at a local school district. The satisfaction of helping a child learn is the most gratifying feeling. My teaching philosophy is if one way of teaching a technique does not work there are always other alternate ways to teaching until the student "gets it" which is the most wonderful feeling.
I feel that positive reinforcement is key to a childs self-esteem. Positive reinforcement yields everything - negative reinforcement yields nothing. The most important key to learning is constant and consistent reading for preparation in the higher grades and college.
My patience in teaching is a strong characteristic I have always maintained. I do not believe in yelling or loud talking. I currently tutor one two one with a local company. I love the work and want more students. "My kids," as I call them know they or their parents can speak with me at any time about their childs progress and learning plan. Additionally, at your request and approval, I can work with the students teacher to actively include activities that are taught in school.
I welcome any questions you may have and I look forward to a prosperous learning regime with your child.
