I have an almost life-long interest in history, starting with Ancient History in high school (Fenwick in Oak Park), where I started with the study of ancient Sumerian History by reading The Epic of Gilgamesh as a Freshman, through Egyptology through Greek and Roman History, through Modern History at Loyola University.
More importantly, as I've progressed through life, I've read countless books on various eras in history, and have never lost my interest in it.
I believe that history is relevant to modern life; without a sense of history, living is like wandering without a map. There are so many lessons to be learned and followed. With age and wisdom I have learned to appreciate history more and more. Most of the great world leaders have been students of history: Abraham Lincoln, John Kennedy, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Winston Churchill, and so many others.
The appreciation I have for it makes it possible for me to make History enjoyable and relevant to others.
I welcome the opportunity to do so through WyzAnt.
