I am a writer with a master's degree in creative writing from the State University of New York. Sometimes I've even been paid for my writing.
I have taught undergraduate English composition for seven semesters cumulatively. I teach my students to self-edit, to improve their essential writing skills, and to develop their writing strengths as much as they are willing.
I have three cumulative years of professional experience as a freelance journalist, and I professionally ghostwrote a series of informative, promotional blogs in the fall of 2009, based on research I did. I also wrote two profile articles gratuitously by request in 2010 to aid the successful launch of an arts and entertainment website in Chicago, and these articles ran online for a few months. I completed two more profile articles by request for pay, and both were likewise approved by their subjects prior to submission. The creator of this fledgling website then unexpectedly moved on and left me with these two latest articles still ready for submission and first publication.
For this and many other reasons, I hold other jobs as needed. However, writing in English, whether creative, journalistic, or expositional, is close to my heart.
