I recently graduated magna cum laude from Southern Illinois University Carbondale where I earned a BA in Art History and a BFA double majoring in both Drawing and Painting. My most recent achievement included the Rickert-Ziebold Trust Award, a $5000 cash prize awarded for excellence in art which I received for my senior thesis work.
I attended SIUC on a Presidential Scholarship earned by my ACT score (32/36), a personal essay, and an interview. I am confident that I can provide excellent tutoring not only in art but in ACT preparatory studies, essay composition and editing, and communication skills. My most proficient area of study is English; on the ACT, I earned a 36/36 on the English section and a 35/36 in Reading.
Art History is fundamentally rooted in the ability to conduct research, analyze information, and compose a coherent document to present findings. I recently won the Tony Fehm Award for Art History with my essay about the photographer August Sander. With excellent grammar and punctuation skills as well as extensive knowledge in MLA and Chicago Manual Style format, I am well-suited to help in any sort of writing composition. I also worked as Senior Co-Editor on the SIUC literary magazine "Grassroots," so you can be sure that any document that passes under my gaze will be as close to perfect as possible.
Art History is also unique in that it encompasses all countries and all time periods; an extensive knowledge of world history, foreign languages, and geography is a must. I can provide essential study strategies for history and geography, and I know basic French and German.
During my high school career, I was very involved in Math Team, Scholastic Bowl, and Varsity Volleyball. Because of these activities, I am confident that I can tutor virtually any subject on a basic level. I am also good with a variety of special needs, particularly ADD/ADHD, having grown up with a special needs sibling and a mother who is a special education teacher. I also have exposure to Asperger's and autism spectrum needs.
Please do not hesitate if you have any questions or comments. I look forward to working with you!
