Hello and thank you for taking the time to view my profile. My name is Tim. I have a B.A. in mathematics and economics, an M.A. in economics, and an M.A. in financial economics.

I've always approached learning and studying with the objective of working as efficiently as possible. My goal is to help you study productively with the least amount of wasted effort. As the demands on your time intensify, this approach becomes increasingly important.

I have significant tutoring experience in many quantitative subjects including calculus, algebra, economics, business mathematics, and finance. In addition, I spent three years teaching economics at Youngstown State University, a four-year university in Ohio. I taught Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics, and kept weekly office hours to help students individually or in small groups. I enjoy teaching and tutoring graduate-level economic courses, as well.

For those struggling with finance topics, I gained extensive knowledge of capital markets, asset valuation, and financial reporting as a CFA Level III candidate. I'm eager to help those Level I and II candidates who are struggling with the comprehensive (and often intimidating) CFA curriculum. I've been particularly successful on the ethics sections of the CFA exams.

In general, I'm an adamant believer in the importance of practice in the pursuit of excellence. With some focused effort, it's within your ability to improve in a subject you find difficult. Too often we witness greatness in business, sports, or pop culture from people who are at the height of their career. What we rarely see is all the hard work and practice that preceded this success. Don't be discouraged. It's my job to uncover and apply the methods that help you connect with a subject. Where I add value is in my ability to condense large amounts of information into key concepts and important ideas.

If you think my approach might benefit you, I'd be happy to meet for an informational session. We can discuss your goals to determine whether I can help you attain them and I'll answer any questions you might have. I'm relatively new to the Chicago area and I'm still exploring all that the city and its suburbs have to offer. As such, I'm more than willing to travel within the metro area to serve your tutoring needs.

Outside of academic pursuits, I enjoy reading, science/technology, watching documentaries, cooking, experiencing new cuisines, and traveling. This summer, I had an amazing time discovering England and even got to spend a day in Paris. I also do some landscape painting from time to time and I'm a classically trained pianist. My background instilled in me the importance of education and a love of learning. I look forward to sharing that passion with you!

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
