I completed my Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Northwestern University and hold an MBA from Purdue University and a Master of Urban Planning from the University of Illinois at Chicago. My focus has been on developing Quantitative Methods and identifying how to integrate these methods with qualitative findings. At the MBA graduate level, these skills translate to my concentrations in Operations and Global Supply Chain Management and my specialization in Transportation and Logistics Modeling.

I have taught after school programs and a summer program in the Chicago Public Schools. My methods are tailored to individual students and to the needs that they identify. My time as a tutor ans a teacher has often focused on math, quantitative methods, operations methods, logistics analysis, and sciences. I can also lead students through composition, history, social sciences, and political science assignments.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

As an student of engineering and in my work in urban planning, my tools and constraints require me to frequently rely on my grasp of the fundamentals of math and how different forces and different constraints affect overall results and potential designs. I have studied and worked through standardized tests and have learned several techniques to attain higher scores.

Algebra 1

As a student of engineering and in my work in urban planning, my tools and constraints require me to frequently rely on my grasp of the fundamentals of math and how different forces and different constraints affect overall results and potential designs.

I can provide a link to my latest project and description of how that work as affected by my early studies in math.

Algebra 2

As a student of engineering and in my work in urban planning, my tools and constraints require me to frequently rely on my grasp of the fundamentals of math and how different forces and different constraints affect overall results and potential designs.

I can provide a link to my latest project and description of how that work as affected by my early studies in math.

Business

I completed my MBA in Global Supply Chain Management and Innovation Strategy from Purdue University in 2006 with a GPA of 3.5/4.0 and several listings on the Dean's List. My specializations are Operations, Marketing, and Innovation Strategy. My career has included 2 years as a corporate consultant with BearingPoint Consulting and 3 years as an independent consultant in Non-Profit Strategic Management. I have taught and presented across several education levels and have led study sessions and presented during conferences.

Computer Science

I have written code for computers since the early 1980s--starting with BASIC but progressing through FORTRAN, C, REXX, UNIX csh/ksh, php, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), Java, SQL, agent based modeling languages, and other languages. My professional experiences have required me to understand how different languages function and their common structures and to understand code written by others. Working with different languages also provides me with an understanding of common uses and how to break down a problem or a procedure into computer code.

Elementary Math

As an student of engineering and in my work in urban planning, my tools and constraints require me to frequently rely on my grasp of the fundamentals of math and how match reasoning and understanding can affect overall results and potential decisions.

I can provide a link to my latest project and description of how that work as affected by my early studies in math.

Geometry

As a student of engineering and in my work in urban planning, my tools and constraints require me to frequently rely on my grasp of the fundamentals of math and how different forces and different constraints affect overall results and potential designs.

Microsoft Excel

I have used MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS Publisher, and MS PowerPoint for about 20 years across three degrees (a bachelor of science in industrial engineering, and MBA in global supply chain management, and a master of urban planning) and multiple projects and professional positions. I have developed the ability to navigate the MS Office applications across multiple versions and interfaces. My work has primarily used the analytical capabilities of MS Excel and MS Access. I use MS Publisher, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word to create documents and presentations for different audiences and to communicate my results and findings.

I use MS Publisher, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word to create documents and presentations for different audiences and to communicate my results and findings.

Microsoft Windows

I have used MS Windows from Version 3.1 (from 1992) through Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 My experiences have included extensive troubleshooting of user and installation issues, networking Windows machines into LANs and into WAN networks across TCP/IP and other protocols, and application support. I also work with PC hardware and have an understanding of how hardware and Windows interact and how to use different software tools to manage different pieces of the Windows environment.

SQL

I have been a Chicago-based Data Analyst for the past 12 years and have used SQL for multiple projects since 1995. My experience with SQL ranges across multiple platforms (Oracle PL/SQL, MS Access SQL, MS Excel SQL, MySQL, PostGreSQL, IBM DB2, and embedding SQL in other languages) and have included working with data from multiple sources and combining these sources using SQL and spatial analysis tools (ArcGIS). These projects have required me to think creatively through how to process data using SQL statements and how to structure statements to provide appropriate results in a minimum amount of time.

Study Skills

I have completed higher education programs from three universities--a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering, an MBA in Global Supply Chain Management, and a Master of Urban Planning. During my graduate programs, I maintained GPAs of 3.5/4.0 and above and graduated with multiple certifications. My study skills and organizational skills have helped me to balance several internships and assistantship positions with my studies and group project requirements. My presentation and teaching background have also included teaching at the grade school to middle school level in programs in the Chicago Public Schools and presenting during conferences and public meetings.
