My passion and love for literature and the English language are my strongest motivators for wanting to become a tutor. I have a B.A. in English and I’m hoping to pursue my doctorate in Literature and Creative Writing. The tutoring scene is very new and fresh and exciting for me. I look forward to this brand new learning experience and I hope that I will have many to share it with.

My main focus is proofreading, editing, and copyediting but I am also well versed in academic writing, article writing, reading, reading comprehension, vocabulary and grammar. My goal for each student is to help them reach and exceed their academic goals.

I am a results driven tutor that thrives on visual results. If there are any discrepancies and/or if the student or parent is not completely satisfied, I am absolutely open to adding on additional complimentary classes or discussing a possible refund. Additionally, I am open to and welcome any and all feedback.

Although I am extremely flexible, I do require at least twenty four hours notice for time changes or cancellations.

Generally, I enjoy studying in local libraries. For me, it is easier to coax my brain into study mode by removing myself from my comfort zone. However, I am willing to travel to a destination that is more comfortable and convenient for the student.

I look forward to hearing from you and working together to achieve your academic and personal goals.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

English

I am a freelance proofreader, editor, and copyeditor. I specialize in reading, reading comprehension, academic writing, and article writing.

Reading

I know that it seems obvious but the best person to teach reading is someone who genuinely loves reading. I love reading but -- I love reading on a broader more intimate level. Oftentimes, people associate reading with books. Reading is so much more than just books. Reading is the world around us: a street sign, an ingredient, directions, lyrics, warnings, codes, etc. Reading is unavoidable. It is the culmination of letters, diction, sound, punctuation, expression, feeling, words, sentences, syntax, moral, and points of views. Everyone interprets and digests information at a different rate and pace. People cannot learn to read the same. It has to be taught in accordance with temperament, personality, and brain functionality.

Writing

I have a B.A. in English. My ultimate goal is to be the world's number one editor. I believe that with a little bit of work, anything is possible. My writing motto is, "You can be an okay writer as long as you are a meticulous editor." Writing is a process. Editing plays a vital role in that process. I have studied this process through and through and I can make it a reality for you.
