Germanic Studies, Comparative Religions, Writing, Reading...

Hello! I would love to help you or your child develop better skills in the German language. I believe a second language is imperative to better understand the world in which we live. I currently hold a B.A. in Germanic Studies and Bioanthropology from Indiana University. During and after my studies I traveled extensively and have spent over two years abroad, most of my time being spent in Germany and Austria. Often mistaken as a native German speaker, my pronunciation and speaking skills are impeccable.

When I returned to the US from Germany, I decided to further my education and now also hold a B.A. and M.A. in Religious Studies from Georgia State University. That said, aside from tutoring German, I am able to tutor anyone interested in comparative religions (also necessary in today's world!), geography, and English reading and writing comprehension.

I have spent several years teaching German to native English speakers, as well as English to native German speakers. I have also been a university level instructor- Teacher of the Year!- as well as a tutor for a program called Writing Across the Curriculum, which assists students of all ages and backgrounds. I look forward to working with you!

German

I have a B.A. in Germanic studies, and I lived in both Austria and Germany for 2 years. My accent is often confused with that of a native German, and I have taught both English to German speakers and German to native English speakers for several years.

Writing

I worked as a tutor for Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) at Georgia State University for nearly 4 years. Due to GSU being a large urban university, I had a wide range of students and learned to adapt quickly to various learning styles. I was also and Teach Assistant and Instructor at GSU for 3 years. As an Instructor responsible for my own class and curriculum, I have independently handled an incredible amount of writing instruction and assignments.

Geography

As part of my curriculum for my degrees in Religious Studies (comparative religions), I have an incredibly in-depth understanding of both physical and cultural geography.

Religion

I have a BA and an MA in Religious Studies, and I dealt primarily with comparative religions. I helped create and teach an introductory course for Georgia State University, which provided introductory material for over 10 different religions and a variety of other "Religion and..." topics. My specialties are Eastern/South Eastern religions, as well as Islam. I also specialize in religion and its relation to culture, art, and violence.
