I graduated from the University of Chicago (June, 2013) with a major in Psychology: Behavioral Neuroscience, and minors in Biology. I fell only a few credits short of a major in English literature and language, and also had the basic medical sciences (physics, chemistry, organic chemistry, etc.).

Originally from Detroit, MI, I attended public school through primary and secondary schooling. Since then, I have been a resident of Hyde Park.

While attending university, I worked at the SmART Museum for three years as a docent (as well as working in medical research). I led scheduled gallery tours, facilitating discussion (e.g., pitching open-ended questions) and teaching visual learning skills to various patrons, ranging from Pritzker medical students to 3rd to 12th grade students.

I have three years of direct tutoring experience. In the past, I home-schooled a 8th grader for an academic year in algebra and trigonometry. He went from struggling to earn passing marks in mathematics the previous year to consistently receiving A/B marks on progress tests required by his former school district. I've also tutored in ACT/SAT prep, pre-calc/calc, biology, physics, chemistry, and English.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

College Counseling

As a first-generation college applicant publicly schooled in greater Detroit, MI, I was accepted (& have graduated) from the University of Chicago.

I have personally counseled three students in the college admission process: two who are now attending the University of Michigan, and one who is attending Case Western Reserve.

I love helping students realize their own potential and take a fresh, compelling perspective on their own experiences - one fit for the (undaunting!) essay. I was lucky to have two such people in my own life as a high school student (both teachers), and because of this experience, I have developed a deep-seated passion for helping the ambitious.
