Dear student/parent,

I truly love teaching, training and learning. My academic, personal and professional backgrounds make me a strong tutoring candidate in writing, grammar, editing, reading, memorization, public speaking, presentation delivery and Microsoft Office. I am fluent in English and Russian. I have helped other students to gain a better understanding of these subjects in the past and I apply a variety of effective learning tactics that have aided me and others in school.

I have recently graduated with a Master’s in Business Administration, specializing in strategic management. Over the years, I have written multiple research papers, reports, and case analyses, and prepared and delivered oral presentations for marketing, management, business operations, international business, and statistics courses. I gained the majority of my tutoring experience in my undergraduate university and in high school where I tutored English writing, proofreading, editing and grammar, and biology intermittently throughout the years.

I don't only focus on learning the material, but also attempt to instill confidence and motivate the student to continue on the road to success without me.

My tutoring approach is flexible and will vary depending on the student. Some learn better at home, others at the library; some learn better in the morning, others during the day. Students also respond differently to learning tools such as mnemonics, storytelling, visualization, hands-on learning, repeated memorization or quizzing. It is all a matter of finding the right approach for the particular student. I am patient, understanding and straight-forward; I will take the time to figure out what works for you.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Grammar

My knowledge of grammar, syntax, sentence structure and punctuation are excellent. I received exemplary marks in English throughout my academic career and grammar was always one of my strong points. My knowledge of grammar stems from a personal love for language and a dedication to becoming highly skilled in the written word. As a tutor, I will help you get better grades by using proper grammar. The knowledge of grammar is essential to doing well on college-entrance exams since the knowledge of grammar is tested in the verbal sections. I received high scores in the verbal sections of the SAT, GRE and GMAT.

Public Speaking

I have over 7 years of experience with public speaking, in academic and professional settings. I am a skilled presented, having delivered a multitude of presentations, group trainings, small lectures and speeches throughout the years. I have coached my peers to give effective class presentations by helping them practice, build confidence and construct materials that will be positively received by the audience. In my previous position, I trained groups of up to 20 individuals in procedures, systems, etc. As a public speaking tutor, I will teach my students to concentrate on their message and audience, apply useful speaking techniques, manage body language, and minimize anxiety for a more effective delivery.

Russian

I am a native Russian speaker who can fluently speak, read and write in Russian. I have completed grades 1-10 of Russian language studies (equivalent to grades 1-12 in U.S. schools) in my home country and after moving to the US. I maintain my knowledge of Russian on a daily basis by speaking, reading, writing and listening to Russian music. I have tutored my younger sister with Russian lessons for 3 years.

Writing

am wonderfully proficient in the English language. I have written numerous papers within my majors in psychology, philosophy and business. I have experience with writing research papers, descriptive essays, college entrance essays, fiction stories and poetry. In my undergraduate university, I have tutored numerous students in writing and have helped them produce quality school papers and get better grades.
