I am very familiar with the concepts tested on the ACT English section. I help students master the grammar concepts which appear on the test, and also show them how to use clues in the answer choices to be successful. Personally, I earned a 35 on the ACT English section.
I have 2.5 years of experience tutoring. For ACT math, my approach is to diagnose the parts of the test on which students can improve the most. We then address those areas through homework and 1:1 sessions in order to maximize their scores in the shortest possible time. I received a 31 on the ACT math section.
For the ACT Reading section, I show students how to read each passage quickly while grasping the main ideas. Then, I guide them in using the test questions to understand where to read more closely. I scored a 34 on the ACT Reading section.
To help students maximize their scores on the ACT Science test, I help students enhance their critical thinking and interpretation skills. My approach helps them understand how to evaluate each question and use logic to determine the best answer. I received a 33 on the Science section.
I have 2.5 years of experience providing writing and standardized test instruction. My approach is to diagnose areas for improvement, then build students' skills through repetition and detailed explanation of common mistakes. I scored a 710 when I took the GMAT exam, which was in the 92nd percentile. I did particularly well on the Verbal section, scoring in the 98th percentile.
I've developed extensive expertise in over three years working with Excel. I am well-versed in the core functionality such as pivot tables, charts, formulas, and formatting. Additionally, I can help advanced students master topics such as creating macros, installing add-ins, and manipulating text strings.
I have 2.5 years of tutoring experience. My approach is to first diagnose the math concepts on which students can improve the most. Then, we practice those subjects together until students become self-sufficient. Personally, I studied math through Differential Equations in high school, and scored a 680 on the SAT Math section.
As a student, I scored 720 points on the SAT Reading section. I also have experience working as a writing tutor at the University of Oklahoma. This combination makes me a well-rounded SAT reading tutor, because I'm able to analyze texts from many subjects efficiently and teach my students to do the same.
I've tutored the writing sections on several different standardized tests. Since those examinations test similar concepts as the SAT, that experience is directly relevant. I was also an academic writing tutor during college, and I also draw from that experience to help students succeed.
I lead weekly SQL training sessions and use the language on a daily basis working in web analytics. I've used SQL to manipulate unstructured data, perform multiple table joins and write scripts to develop business reports. With experience teaching new users, I understand how to help them learn the basics quickly while avoiding the common pitfalls of working with complex data.
I worked at the University of Oklahoma Honors College Writing Center for 2.5 years, leading up to 40 one-on-one meetings each semester. Each meeting focused on developing students' understanding of concepts like thesis presentation and argumentation. My informal, conversational approach to addressing areas for improvement keeps things fun and interesting while helping students find their voice.
