Hello! My name is Sarah and I work as a professional tutor with Match Corps Chicago in the Chicago Public Schools. I currently tutor students in Algebra I and II and Geometry, and I have previously tutored 7th and 8th grade students in Pre-Algebra. Before beginning work as a tutor, I spent a year as a classroom English teacher in Turkey with the U.S. Fulbright program.

I graduated in 2012 with a degree in Sociology from a small liberal arts college in Minnesota. While in college, I had the opportunity to participate in an after-school tutoring program for elementary-aged students, and I also worked as a writing tutor at the Academic Services center. If you would like further information about my educational or professional background, please let me know and I will happily send you my resume!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have experience tutoring elementary students with the after-school PLUS program in Northfield, MN during my undergraduate years at St. Olaf College. I have also privately tutored elementary students in the Chicago area in a variety of subjects including math, science, reading, writing, social studies, and French. I am certified by WyzAnt in Elementary Math and Writing. I also have professional experience in journalism and copy-editing, and I have taught English at the university level.
