What I Do: I am offering my services as a tutor in the various fields associated with the English language
. I can aid in developing your capacities as a thorough, understanding reader and a clear, expressive writer. I am an exacting editor
and a perfectionist when it comes to proper grammar
- but at the same time, I am a generous and patient instructor. I will work with students on their assigned materials, provide strategies to improve reading
comprehension, and provide encouraging but critical feedback on written work. I will also gladly oversee preparation for standardized tests such as the SAT
with regard to their reading and writing
sections. More than anything else, I'm committed to helping you learn.
My Credentials: I am a current PhD candidate in philosophy
at DePaul University, where I am currently teaching philosophy courses at the undergraduate level. I have two bachelor's degrees from Villanova University: one in philosophy and the other in interdisciplinary humanities, through their Honors program; I successfully defended a substantial thesis for the Honors degree. My writings have been accepted to and presented at conferences at various universities from the East Coast to the Midwest. As a high school student, I achieved a perfect score on the reading portion of my SAT.
My circumstances were very fortunate, and I want to help others get access to the opportunities I have had. I see tutoring as a positive and meaningful way in which to give back to the community. I hope it will be possible for us to make this happen together.
