I am a 2012 graduate of Hillsdale College, a rigorous liberal arts college in Michigan, where I graduated magna cum laude with a Spanish degree. I am currently working on a Master’s degree at Midwestern University. I enjoy speaking, reading and listening to Spanish and I actively seek opportunities to use this wonderful language! I find many opportunities in Chicago to continue using Spanish, particularly in translating and in daily conversation.
My tutoring strengths are those involving Spanish vocabulary, verb conjugation and tenses, and pronunciation. I also have significant experience with Spanish literature. I have studied in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where I held an internship and immersed myself in the language and culture. I have traveled to other Spanish-speaking countries, such as Honduras and Uruguay, further deepening my love and understanding of the Spanish language!
Tutoring Spanish has become a passion of mine which began in high school as I tutored several classmates who struggled with Spanish grammar. I continued to tutor fellow students throughout college, and also spent several months tutoring ESL students at a local public school.
For Spanish, I would prefer if the student owns the book or material he or she wishes to use. I will work with any book or lesson plan, but I would prefer to work with the system to which the student is already accustomed. If the student prefers a different plan than one he or she has worked with before, I will certainly use the system the student requests. I am comfortable teaching at the elementary, middle school, high school and college levels, and will work with any level from beginner to conversational Spanish.
I believe that speaking Spanish is more than memorizing vocabulary or verb tenses –it’s an art that must be perfected over time. I am excited to give all my energies to my students and assist them in learning this beautiful language. Let me help you! You won't regret it.
