I have two important goals for every student I teach. My first goal is to shape healthy technique, so you can sound your best and feel great doing it, and my second goal is help you learn how to practice effectively, so you start to see results immediately and without wasting time.
Students who take lessons with me can expect to learn how to read music, improve their singing or playing with healthy technique, hone their ability to sight-read new music, play or sing new music on your own without a teacher, and explore ways to find music that's right for you.
Intermediate to advanced voice students can also expect to sing in different languages, including Italian, French, and German.
I currently work as a teacher, singer, actor, and organist in Chicago. I am employed full-time as a music teacher with Chicago Public School while maintaining my active private-lessons studio. I have completed vocal training programs with groups like Chicago Opera Theater, and the College Light Opera Company (CLOC). I have degrees in vocal performance and music education. As a teacher I have worked independently as a studio teacher and vocal coach, and I have worked with public organizations like Chicago Public Schools, teaching students in K through 12th grade.
I have experience performing and teaching music from a variety of styles and difficulties, everything from pop to opera. I am Illinois State Certified as a K-12 educator.
