I have a B.S. in Mathematics from Birmingham-Southern College. During my time at Birmingham-Southern, I was a math lab tutor, where I tutored a variety of math classes on a walk-in schedule of students, and a private math tutor for the students who made appointments and needed individual attention. After graduation, I taught reading and phonics to kindergartners and first-graders in the Birmingham school system for a year with AmeriCorps. I also worked at a tutoring company called the Reading and Math Center, where I tutored a variety of age groups in mathematics. I also have a B.F.A. in Fibers from Savannah College of Art and Design.
I believe that sometimes the trouble with a subject is that it is only taught one way. We certainly all don't think alike, so how can we be expected to learn alike? My focus is teaching a variety of methods until we find the one that works for you. There is more than one path to the truth and there is absolutely more than one path to the correct answer.
