From childhood on, I have loved language, literature, and helping people. As a result, I have a B.A. in English and an M.S.W. in Social Work. Over the years, I have become a certified teacher in Illinois of grades 6-12, a certified Montessori teacher of children ages 3-6, and a licensed clinical social worker. My working life has been spent mostly in schools, doing all these things. In particular, I have tutored children individually at every elementary grade level, and at the high school senior level. I have also worked with small groups of first and fourth grade students. I have taught Junior and Senior High School English classes, and have even taught in a one room schoolhouse years ago in West Virginia!
Although I received my certificates and license years ago, I keep them up to date, and so am continually taking classes. I do this because learning is a joy for me, and because I want to offer my students the best possible learning experience.
With my husband, I have raised six children, some of whom now have children of their own! Two years ago, I officially retired, but still have a deep desire to learn and to guide others in learning. It would give me great joy and satisfaction to tutor children or adults. I would work best one on one, but like small groups also.
