I work as a paraprofessional with Chicago public schools. I'm dedicated to students with ADD/ADHD in the mainstream classroom. We focus on reading and comprehension, math, social activities, and life goals. My experience is with students in 1st-8th grade.

Aspergers

I work as a paraprofessional with Chicago public schools. I'm dedicated to students with Aspergers in the mainstream classroom. We focus on reading and comprehension, math, social activities, and life goals. My experience is with students in 1st-8th grade. My degree is in Disability Rights and Human Services. I have worked in a group home with disabled adults also where I taught them life skills like shopping and budgeting. I helped prepare them for independent life.

Autism

I work as a paraprofessional with Chicago public schools. I'm dedicated to students with Autism in the mainstream classroom. We focus on reading and comprehension, math, social activities, and life goals. My experience is with students in 1st-8th grade. I have a degree in Disability Rights and Human Services. I have worked in a group home where I advocated for adults in making life goals. It my purpose to help them become more independent. I use many different methods to teach appropriate behaviors in social and classroom settings. Using a reward system when work is completed and redirecting to enhance comprehension.

Hard Of Hearing

I have worked with hard of hearing individuals in a living facility with a non profit, Anixter, focusing on life goals and skills, how to budget, and socialize in a hearing society. I am fluent in American Sign Language, so I can communicate with sign or voice.

Piano

I began piano lessons at 12 after I taught myself how to play. I have taught piano from kids to adults, mostly family. My experience outside of teaching has been performing in musical theatre on the national level. I have played all over the nation as an accompanist for regional theatre auditions. I have performed in concerts for major corporations like, Blue Cross, Discover Card, Coke A Cola, and Merck pharmaceuticals.

Sign Language

I have a AAS Degree in American Sign Language Interpreting and Transliterating from Saint Paul College in Minnesota. I am currently working with Anixter Center in a facility of Deaf and Deaf Blind clients. I also am managed and work with Deaf individuals. I am fluent in ASL.

Special Needs

I work as a paraprofessional with Chicago public schools. I'm dedicated to students with Special Needs in the mainstream classroom. We focus on reading and comprehension, math, social activities, and life goals. My experience is with students in 1st-8th grade.

Swimming

I started swimming as a newborn when my mother threw me into our pool. I continued to compete I the junior Olympics and continued my swimming in high school. I went to CIF Finals with my team. I was offered a scholarship with SDSU in swimming and Water Polo. I graduated from school and use swimming as my cardio. I am certified in First Aid.

Voice (Music)

My first professional singing career began in musical theatre after college. I performed on the west coast in many productions professionally. I also taught young performers in camps in Southern California. I have sung with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir with their Mid West tour. I was back up for artist signed to Arista. I was asked to sing the National Anthem at many major sports venues from the west to the mid west.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
