At this time, I do not yet have a car, so I will only tutor in Morgantown and Fairmont until that changes.
My name is Cassie and I would love to be your tutor. Whether the student I work with is an elementary school student needing help with reading skills, a high school student trying to understand statistics, or even a college student trying to learn how to structure an essay, I have the experience and training they need. I majored in geography and earth science, with a triple minor in Asian Studies, history, and information systems. My broad studies mean that whether you need help with anything from understanding American history to understanding evolutionary biology, I have the knowledge and experience needed to help you. Currently, I'm a graduate teaching assistant pursuing a masters in geography at WVU. And whatever subject I work with a student on, they can be assured that I will bring not only my knowledge on the subject but also my training as a tutor.
I am a Level 2 accredited College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) tutor, which means that I have completed 20 hours of training as a tutor and tutored students face to face for over 60 hours. These 60 hours were with college students needing help with their writing skills. I bring my friendly and comforting demeanor to every tutoring session and work to understand the needs and personalities of the students I work with. I adapt my tutoring style to each student. For instance, some students are visual learners and respond better to diagrams and mapping out problems on paper, and other students respond better to back and forth discussions about study topics. I'm trained in helping students learn studying and research techniques, and can bring my experience as a speed reader and 90 word per minute typist to teaching students how best to grow with their studies. I look forward to working with you!
